Building Homes & Rebuilding Lives in Nicaragua
"Intense love does not measure. It just gives." ~Mother Teresa
In 2002, a grant from World Missions Possible helped make it possible for League City United Methodist Church to send two teams, with approximately 12 people per team, to help build houses in the developing nation of Nicaragua. The homes were allotted to people who had been devastated by Hurricane Mitch and poverty.
The teams worked on three houses near the city of Jinotepe in the department of Carazo. The three houses were part of a twenty-house project undertaken by the Council of Evangelical Churches of Nicaragua (CEPAD), who served as the team’s hosts in Nicaragua. Based on need, CEPAD had pre-screened the housing applicants, verifying their need and their commitment to assist and work side-by-side with the American volunteers.
